although we have had delays, especially in the northeast. la guardia and newark and boston have been two of the big areas that we have seen delays between one and three hours for some. long delays tonight continue in the northeast and a lot of that is wind related. most of the rain has left even as far northeast at boston. the winds have been gusting between 30 and 40 miles per hour. san francisco, oh, it has been a tough go for you if you're watching from the airports. we've had between three and four-hour delays and the rain and low visibility and fog and that will continue in san francisco. the hardest hit areas tomorrow and sunday. all right. for the northeast, for tomorrow, windy and much cooler, temperatures precipitously dropped 50 tonight in boston and dropping down into the 30s, and will feel much colder than that. quiet, though, in the northeast and the midwest and for sunday, the biggest stormy spot will be on sunday. it will be in of course the west coast and along the west coast. so here is a look at the weekend travel picture. here is the storm. it is exiting the country an

delays. new york and laguardia, ground stop. philadelphia, newark, two and a half hour delays and the predominance and problem here, the winds. philadelphia gusting to 30 miles per hour. new york, 33 miles per hour gusts. so that's really part of the problem because the big cities aren't seeing snow accumulation. they're seeing heavy rain with the wind. here's a snapshot. in central park, gusting to 31 miles an hour. all the way from cleveland to indy, 20 to 30-mile-an-hour gusts and new york gets in the potential 50, 55-mile-an-hour gusts tonight. exacerbating are those winds. so here's the big picture. the good news though, we've seen things clear out. in illinois, indiana, even into ohio. you see those kind of holes in the radar, the dark white showing where the heaviest snow is. but see those dry pockets now? all that is lifting out. still wet here along the 95 cory -- corridor but all the snow we certainly saw a lot. so in southeastern illinois, 18 inches. bloomfield, indiana, 11. evansville, 10, indy, 7.2. paducah, kentucky, 4.6. so certainly, a lot of strong storms with

's what is making travel so perilous. whether it is the winds in newark or laguardia now or just rain slowing things down, or these winds gusting to 30 in chicago, 23 in nashville, gusting to 45 earlier in indianapolis. it is the winds that are making travel so perilous and so dangerous and impacting the roads and the airports. blizzard warnings here from central indiana to ohio. again, that means the snow coupled with the winds. but look at this, 12 inches, a foot plus of snow possible in western new york. the worst of it tonight until tomorrow in new york state. and then we will begin to see this move out. hefty total of snow. here is the movement as we head toward early tomorrow. you see new york, new york state ensconced in snow. western pennsylvania as well. then by thursday morning, it is still there, and into maine and finally pushes all out. so victor, we're not done with this here. we have another two days, good news all the severe threat coming to an end by tonight and snow still a factor with the winds. >> rough weather on the start of the christmas travel season. rough wea

york, laguardia, jfk. boston as well. laguardia to newark to boston. san francisco has had four-hour delays. now 3 1/2 hours and it is weather-related there, too. ft. lauderdale is having a volume issue. this is the exiting storm, this rain that is leaving. skies are drying out but temperatures will drop precipitously. this is where the travel will really get tough. rochester, buffalo, six to 12 inches of knsnow coming for the. washington, baltimore, clears out for tomorrow and sunday. although it will still be windy. there's the heavy snow in western new york. driving i-90 through the weekend is really difficult. as we head towards sunday, this is the biggest travel headache from seattle all the way down to san francisco. northern california does some very heavy rain and wind for the next couple of days. lisa? >> sounds like everyone is going to have to really be patient as they try to get home for the holidays. >> yes. >> alexandra, thanks. it's not going to be easy but we'll see, hopefully it won't be too much of a travel headache. >> patience is important. lisa, thank you. >

now, chairman of the department of medicine at newark beth israel medical center. what do you make of it? >> well, he's 88 years old. this is a president who's been in exceptionally good health. i mean, he jumps out of airplanes at the age of 85 which i thought was an absolutely amazing guy. i can recall his illnesseses over his life which included a thyroid problem, you remember when he was president. one worries about an 88-year-old who comes in with trach yo bronchitis with a chronic cough, perhaps a low-grade fever. gregg: what does that mean, pneumonia? >> yeah, well, it could mean knew known ya. bronchitis is an inin mission of the tubes that go into the lung, and you have trouble clearing mucus. you have trouble coughing, and coughing causes a lot of problems, so pneumonia is a possibility. and then when you're that old, you run the risk of a blood infection, and that can be lethal for somebody over the age of 75. gregg: what happens? >> it'll cause organ failure, and it is often times fatal. so i think the doctors are playing it safe. put him on antibiotics -- gregg: right.

in newark, that's a great son. willie, in your home state? >> they're running a charter school in east new york. they've got three of them in the city. >> it has been good in that case to see the government and the union work together. i do want to ask you one question, and not rhetorically. do you believe in a place like spring hill, tennessee, where there's a new volkswagen plant, the jobs came back but at a low wage, some of them at $12 an hour. do you think that's a good thing where they wouldn't be there even though it's a low wage? >> it's better than having the jobs in china, but those kinds of jobs eventually mean we can't have the kind of standard of living we had in this country. you know, you're not going to turn down a plant that's bringing jobs in, but, you know, what about the environmental laws? who's going to protect workers against not only the wage stuff but what about all the chemicals people get exposed to and these kinds of things in these kinds of industries? these are complicated, tough issues. i think throwing the unions under the bus is very stupid. >> harold meyer
